Bluewater Airport is located within a Rural 400 area with a specific Approval granted by resolution of Council on 12th Dec, 1990, for commercial airport operations.  The airport has enjoyed continuous aviation activity, including flight training and international freight and passenger arrivals, since 1990. Review a recent Supreme Court of Queensland:  Bucknell & Anor v Townsville City Council & Anor [2021] QCA 26.  This case relates to Ace Airfield, north of Townsville but which was also given a ‘1990 Airport Approval’ similar in the most meaningful ways to Bluewater Airport and therefore applies significantly to Bluewater Airport.

Access

For access refer to ERSA and email Alan Middleton or call on 0407 356 948.  Please fill in and submit the permission online form and ensure you have read and agreed to the Site Rules. Pilots please note our fly-neighbourly procedures promulgated in ERSA which basically require all circuit operations be conducted to the east away from the hills and to avoid low overfly of homesteads near the airport.
